Soft: captions for storytellers and beauty creators

Words arrive one by one into a calm, left-aligned column, and the oldest gently blur away — captions that read like a page.

Soft is the Subtightl caption style for storytellers and beauty creators. Words are set in Fraunces serif, left-aligned, and arrive one by one into a rolling column of about nine words while the oldest blur out. It has no single-word highlight: the colour tints the whole text.

Why Soft works

Soft is built for voices that slow down: storytime videos, get-ready-with-me routines, calm voice-overs. Instead of flashing the current word, it lets the sentence build up on the left of the frame like lines on a page, and lets the oldest words drift out of focus — intimate rather than loud.

Use Soft for

Less suited to: Fast-paced edits and content where one word must stand out — Soft deliberately highlights nothing.

Make it yours

The text colour starts as a pale white; warm peach, pink and mint are in the picker too, plus a custom colour. Keep it small and let the column sit beside the subject rather than over a face. Size and position are yours too, and your last choice is remembered for the next video.
